Lena W Goebel

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena W. Goebel, 94, of Elton will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings with Revs. Darrell Hieronymus and Barrett Marcantel officiating. Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Goebel will be on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It will resume on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until time of service.

Mrs. Goebel was born on December 5, 1924 in McComb, Mississippi. She moved to the Elton area as a young woman. She attended Southeastern and McNeese Universities graduating with a Master’s Degree and went on to teach Math and Science at Elton High School for more than 20 years. Mrs. Goebel was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Elton and served as a Sunday School teacher for 64 plus years.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter and son in law, Frances (Byron) Stroud of Elton; two sons and daughters in law, William Alfred (Kelli) Goebel of Laurel, MD and Karl Edward (Katheryn) Goebel of Yell County, AR; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 63 years, Alfred W. Goebel; parents, Luther and Jesse Robinson Walker; infant daughter, Barbara Susan Goebel and granddaughter, Kristina Goebel.
