Lela H Norton

Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Rose Hoffpauir Norton, 86, a native of Crowley will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Norton will begin Sunday morning at Miguez Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and close at 11:30.

Mrs. Norton was born in Crowley on April 22, 1934 and lived in the Jennings area most of her life until she moved to North Texas after her husband passed away.

She graduated from Crowley High School in 1952 and went on to SIL graduating in 1956 with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. Mrs. Norton worked as a Social Worker and also taught Pre K and Kindergarten at Jeff Davis Academy. After her husband opened a CPA firm she became his office manager.

She was a dedicated member of Jennings United Methodist Church and a faithful attender of Harvest Baptist and Crandall United Methodist Churches. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s group and Entre Nous. Mrs. Norton gave her time and support to her children as a volunteer with Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts and High School Band Boosters.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Norton (Gary) Moonshower of Combine, TX; sons, Carl W. “Wes” (Carol) Norton, Jr. of Lafayette, Craig W. (Rhonda) Norton of Keller, TX; sisters, Gloria Summers of Crowley, Peggy Truax, Esterwood; brother Clyde W. “Dubby” Hoffpauir, Jr. of Crowley; grandchildren, Carl W. “Tre” Norton III, Tyler (Stephanie) Norton, both of Lafayette, Nathan (Lauren) Moonshower of Kaufman, TX, Jacob Moonshower, Zachary Moonshower, both of Combine, TX, Victoria Norton and Parker Norton of Keller, TX; and great grandchildren, Charlotte Moonshower of Combine, TX and Stella Norton of Lafayette.

Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Norton; parents, Clyde W. and Elnettie Z. Sarver Hoffpauir; sisters, Gwenda Lynn Leatherbury and Carleen Domingue and her brother, Darwin L. Hoffpauir.

III, Tyler Norton, Nathan Moonshower, Zachary Moonshower, Parker Norton, Dwayne Hoffpauir with honorary pallbearers, PV2 Jacob Moonshower, Victoria Norton, Charlotte Moonshower and Stella Norton.
