Lee James Clement

JENNINGS

Funeral services for Mr. Lee James Clement, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Hathaway with Rev. Bill Miller officiating.

Burial will be in the Raymond Community Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time to leave for church.

A rosary led by Deacon Mike Tramel will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Clement died at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Clement was a lifelong resident of Hathaway and was a graduate of the Hathaway High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI), now University of Louisiana, Lafayette. He was the parish Registrar of Voters for 30 years and was manager of the Louisiana Registrar Retirement System. He was an auctioneer for 35 years, and was appointed by Gov. Edwin Edwards to the State Board of Auctioneers. He was past president of the Louisiana Rural Waterworks, Central District; he was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and was former Justice of the Peace. He was a board member of Louisiana Red Brangus Association, member of the American Red Brangus Association, and Louisiana Cattleman’s Association. He was also a board member of the Jeff Davis Cattleman’s Association and Hathaway, Louisiana SAFE Association. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association.

His pastimes included raising cattle, goats and horses. He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Rose Marie Andrus Clement; one daughter, Pam Landry and husband Dean of Hathaway; one son, Kenneth Clement and wife Sayuri of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mary Ann Hardee of Kinder; grandchildren, Nicki Guidry and husband Cody of Hathaway, Cpl. Riki Clement, USMC of Houston, Texas, Megan Landry of Hathaway and Mari Clement of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Sienna, Noah and Adeline Guidry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alee and Alvene LeJeune Clement.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Clement, Dean Landry, Cody Guidry, Ryan Marcantel, Barry Hardee, Lloyd Lepretre and Noah Guidry.

Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Deshotel and Travis Cary.
