Lawrence "Blackie" Fruge

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence “Blackie” Fruge, Jr., 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in the Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Fruge died at 10:50 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at his daughter’s residence. Mr. Fruge was a long time resident of Lake Arthur and was a retired automobile paint and body technician. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. Survivors include four daughters, Helen Conner and husband Donald, Sandra Duhon, Catherine LeJeune and husband Joseph, Laura Istre and husband Phillip all of Jennings; three sons, Paul Fruge and wife Judy of Mermentau, Michael Fruge and wife Claudia of Jennings, Lawrence Fruge and wife Trina of Jennings; one brother, Ludrin John Fruge of Baton Rouge; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fruge is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Sylvania Hebert Fruge; his wife, Helen Dupuis Fruge; one daughter, Karen Fruge; three sisters, Eula Mae Young, Amy Gotte, Lucy Quibedeaux; one brother, Joseph “J.U.” Fruge, grandson,Scott D. Conner; great-grandson, Luke Byron Duhon, and son-in-law Byron Duhon.
