Laura Miller

March 28, 1921 — September 11, 2008

Mrs. Laura Miller, nee LeBlanc, age 87, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2008, at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Laura Miller, a lifelong resident of Jennings, was employed by Duncan Studios during WWII. Later she was secretary of the City Services bulk plant for many years and was well known by area farmers. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Help of Christians Catholic Church, very active in the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Society, and as a Eucharistic Minister. She and her husband received several Diocesan awards for service to Church and community. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mr. Eli Miller, and her parents Leon Christmas and Colistie Girl Sonnier LeBlanc. She is survived by her sister Mrs. Adela Jardell, nephews A.J. and Leon Jardell, all of Jennings, niece Mrs. Dalton (Marie Ann) Joseph of Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Jennings, niece Mrs. Joe (Adela Agnes) Leger of Crowley, and 34 great and great-great nieces and nephews, all whom knew her as Nanny. Visitation on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A French rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. and an English rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation on Wednesday will be from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Services will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Words of comfort may be shared at www.miguezfuneralhome.com.
