Funeral services for Mrs. Laura J. Bergeaux, 73, will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume Monday, June 27, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Mike Tramel.
Mrs. Bergeaux died at 12:06 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Bergeaux was a native of Elton. She moved here eighteen years ago from Krotz Springs, La. Mawmaw Laura loved to spend time with her family, always cooking their favorite dish. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church as well as St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed helping others.
Mrs. Bergeaux is survived by her husband of 55 years, Murray; a daughter, Tammy (Mark “PeeWee”) Kratzer; a son, Lane (Joan) Bergeaux of Krotz Springs, La; one sister, Lucy (Carlton) Deshotel; three brothers, Jimmy Gary of Hathaway; Merlin (Dolores) Gary and Leroy (Faye) Gary of Evangeline; four grandchildren, Adam (Kallie) Bergeaux, Monica (Greg Lejeune) Kratzer, Blane Kratzer, Michelle (Jake) Smith and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bergeaux is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara Crochet Gary; sister, Geneva Gary; brother, Ricky “Little Ricky” Gary and great granddaughter, Brynn Bergeaux.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Deshotel, Shannon Deshotel, Blane Kratzer, Gerald Gary, Adam Bergeaux, and Jake Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Ward, great grandsons, Tucker Smith, Seth Smith and Benjamin Smith. Gift bearers will be her great granddaughters, Cami LeJeune, Layci Lejeune, Brie Bergeaux and Aubrey Smith.
