It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Owen Chapman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 69. Kenny was born on January 31, 1956, in Jennings, LA, and spent all of his life in Lake Arthur, LA, where he became a well-respected member of the community.
He was known for his kind heart, unwavering faith, and dedication to his family. A proud owner of Lake Auto Supply, Kenny never hesitated to lend a helping hand, always believing in the power of community and kindness. His true passions were his family and his church, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where he was a devout member and Trustee, getting involved in everything from the Knights of Columbus to True Presence Retreats. Kenneth was honored to be named Father of the Year, a testament to the love he poured into his role as a father.
Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sue Bellard Chapman, Kenny takes with him a treasure trove of memories cherished by his children-Allison (Beau) Istre, Craig (Ashley) Chapman, and Amy (Jacob) Fluitt-as well as his beloved grandchildren: Ella, Emme, Anna, William, Westin, Taeghon, and Avery. He will also be missed deeply by his brothers, Harold (Janice), Freddie (Dawn), and Michael Chapman, and by countless friends who knew him as a gentle soul with a generous spirit.
There will be a public viewing on the evening of April 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, during which a rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, starting with a public viewing at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 8:00 AM. A mass will follow at 10:00 AM, with Father Jay Alexius officiating. Kenny will be laid to rest after the mass at 11:30 AM at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Dickie" and Maxine Canik Chapman.
