JENNINGS The family of Kay Miguez Hanks announces her passing into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 23, 2012. Mrs. Hanks passed away peacefully at Oschner Medical Center-North Shore in Slidell surrounded by loved ones. She was 78 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today, Sunday, and will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday. A rosary and scripture service will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel. Mrs. Hanks was born in Jennings to Adolph (Spike ) and Ena Barousse Miguez on November 6, 1934. She was a graduate of Jennings High School. She married Curtis J. Hanks on May 29, 1953. Mrs. Hanks was beloved by her family and friends. She raised her children in a home filled with love and happiness. She was an accomplished cook and an avid crafter. She had a gift for talk that made anyone feel welcome. She has a strong faith and was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, where she taught CCD for many years. She was active in various organizations, including Catholic Daughters, Entre Nous, and the Officers Wives Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, dancing, gardening, and decorating. She shared her love of life and open spirit with everyone. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four children, Greg (Rebecca) Hanks of Sulphur, Scott Hanks of Walker, Rachel (Ken) Hoag of Slidell, and Andrea (Joe) Metzger of Slidell. Mrs. Hanks will be cherished and missed by her 13 grandchildren, Misti (David) Follis, Mandi (Chris) Stanga, Brady (Ashley) Hanks, Kori, Justin, and Christopher Hanks, Kayleigh (Joel) Rinkevich, Jordan (Andrew) Cline, Jamey and Matthew Hoag, Julia and Alexander Lewis, and Sarah Metzger; her six step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Now Mrs. Hanks rests in Heaven with her beloved husband of 57 years, Curtis, her parents, Adolph and Ena Miguez, her sister, JoAnne Smith, and her infant brother, Tommy Jude Miguez. Carrying Mrs. Hanks to her final resting place will be her grandsons, Brady Hanks, Justin Hanks, Christopher Hanks, Jamey Hoag and David Follis and Andrew Cline. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Alexander Lewis and Matthew Hoag.
