JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Olive Branch Alcock, 90, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 in Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 18, 2013. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Mrs. Alcock graduated from Vincent Business College in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She worked for several businesses throughout her career including the City of Jennings under Mayor Bill Watson and LeeVac Shipyards. She was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Oberlin where she kept her membership until 1975 when she moved back to Jennings. She continued to serve the auxiliary through the Jennings chapter where she won several national awards as Community Activity chairman and Cancer chairman for the state of Louisiana. Survivors include daughter, Claudia Hudgins Colquette of Oakdale; two sons, Harold (Pam) Hudgins III of Arlington, Texas and Stephen (Belinda) Hicks of Jennings; grandchildren, Aaron Hicks, Joshua Hicks, Brittany Hicks, Wendy McGee, Jodi Wheat, Harold Hudgins IV and Susan Hudgins as well as twelve great grandchildren. Mrs. Alcock was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Nookum Alcock; parents, Steve Branch and Mary Dosier DeShanzor and one sister Frankie Branch Whiteside.
