Funeral services for Mr. Jules Mayo LaCour, 76, of Lafayette will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mr. LaCour will begin on Thursday evening, August 12th at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning and continue until 9:30 a.m.

Mr. LaCour was born on May 19, 1945, in Abbeville to Lloyd Henry and Mamie Marie Simon LaCour. He graduated from Lake Arthur High School in 1963 and in 1968 he graduated from McNeese State College with a BS in Business Administration.  In 1968 he purchased LaCour Lumber Company from his father and uncle.  He moved LaCour Construction to Lafayette in 1991 and continued business until his retirement in 2020.  He served on the Jeff Davis Parish Broadmore Drainage District as secretary/treasurer. Mr. LaCour was a member of the Acadiana Homebuilders Association, serving as President from 2002 to 2003.  He was Chairman of the Parade of Home in 2003.  He was the Chairman of Education and Governance in 2001 and was recognized as Builder of the Year in 2002.

He enjoyed following his grandsons around throughout their school sports career attending almost every game.  He also enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons.  Mr. LaCour was an avid LSU fan.  Some may remember him fondly when he coached PeeWee and Little League baseball in Lake Arthur.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years, Cathy Broussard LaCour of Lafayette; son, Jake LaCour and wife Darla of Lafayette; sister, Sherry Boudreaux and husband Kurt of Lafayette; and two grandchildren, Colby and Janssen LaCour.  He also had many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Roy LaCour and sister, Charlotte LaCour.
