Juan Gomez

Juan Gomez, 92, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, formerly of Raymondville, Texas passed away Tuesday February 4, 2025, at Southwest Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana. Juan was born March 8, 1932. He was married 56 years to the love of his life Sarah Mungia Gomez before her passing. He served in the U.S. Army and took pride being a veteran. He will most be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and his kind and generous heart.

In his early years he worked for Brown & Haynes and later went to work as an educator for Texas State Technical Institute (now College) where he taught auto body paint and repair.

He leaves to honor his memory his two children Mary Kay Tucker (Tony) of Lake Charles, La & JJ Gomez (Ashley) of Dallas, Texas; 5 Grandchildren Anthony Tucker (Anne), Joseph Tucker (Katie), Ariane Tucker, Scout Gomez & Harper Gomez; 7 Great-Grandchildren Taylor Tucker, Jaxyn Tucker, Avah Santiago, Maelani Grant, Levi & Declan Tucker, Mia Marie Tucker; 2 Bonus Great-Grandchildren Chassi & Malachi Ballard; 1 Brother Roger Gomez (Janie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sarah, his parents and his brothers Lupe and Joe Gomez.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at SWLVH for their amazing care, love and compassion as well as the administrative staff for their support. To his private duty sitters Ashley Lawden, Percilla Simien & Allison Trahan for their love and dedication while he was at home before moving to the VA Home. To Harbor Hospice for their care while he was at home and Heart of Hospice during his final days, we are forever grateful for the love, care, compassion and support received. To Miguez Funeral Home for showing us such amazing compassion during this difficult time.

A private viewing was held at Miquez Funeral Home in Jennings and interment of his ashes will be held at a later date in Raymondville, Texas.
