Joseph Wallace Fontenot

Lake Arthur Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Wallace Fontenot, 75, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2010 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Thornwell Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Fontenot died Friday, January 15, 2010 at 12:25 p.m. at his residence in Thornwell surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Fontenot was a native and lifelong resident of Thornwell having graduated from Lake Arthur High School and attended McNeese College. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and a former volunteer for the Thornwell Fire Dept. He was a retired carpenter and former owner of Fontenots Package Liquor in Thornwell. He is survived by his son; James Fontenot and his wife Ella of Lake Arthur, three daughters; Cheryl Ogea and her husband Donald of Thornwell, Mary Savoie and husband Morris of Lake Arthur, Annette Gary and husband Greg of Thornwell, a sister; Jane St. Romaine of Lake Charles, a brother; Russell Fontenot and wife Patti of Thornwell, 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Mr. Fontenot was preceded in death by his parents; Rayo and Ethel Israel Fontenot, his wife of 52 years; Barbara Doucette Fontenot and a daughter; JoAnn Rushing. Pallbearers will be six of his grandsons.
