Funeral services for Rev. Joseph Roy Sexton, 86, of Jennings will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings with Rev. Austin Spell officiating. Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Rev. Roy Sexton will be on Friday, February 8, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Rev. Sexton lived a rich and adventurous life will with lots of love and respect.
As a young man he served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was the proprietor of a Machine Shop and enjoyed his work very much. He was also a licensed minister of the Assembly of God church. One of the accomplishments that he was most proud of was the building of his shrimp boat the Capt. Gator.
Rev. Sexton is survived by four daughters; Angela (Roger) Mier of Welsh; Melanie (Ray) Fontenot, Roilyn (Darrell) Self, and Gloria (Joseph Smith) Sexton, Jr., all of Jennings; two sons, Felix “Bert” (Bernadette) Sexton, Sr. of Leesville; Granville (Ruby Cormier)Sexton of Lake Arthur; four sisters, Vickie Hollingsworth of Church Point; Judy Guidry of Crowley; Joan Caswell of Carlyss, Linda Heard of Starks; three brothers, Chuckie Sexton of Evangeline; Danny Sexton of Starks; Butch (Jackie) Sexton of Olney, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rev. Gloria Ann Duval Sexton; his parents, Elzie and Edna Roy Sexton; three sisters, Linda Heard, Opal Navarre and Juanita Green; two brothers, Delbert “Buster” and Jack Sexton and grandson Jayce Ryan Dupuis.
