Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Raye Miller Dennis, 64, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. until time of the service.
A rosary led by Deacon Wayne Chapman will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Dennis died at 12:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Mrs. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Jennings and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. She was a retired school teacher. She held memberships in Jeff Davis Association of Retired Teachers, National Education Association, Louisiana Association of Educators, Alpha Delta Kappa, and Louisiana Science Teachers Association. She loved to cook, go out and eat with friends, taking care of people, and spending time with her family and friends. She had such a big heart. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society and Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Dennis of Jennings; one daughter, Holly (Mark) Daniel of Welsh; one son, Jared Dennis of Roanoke; two sisters, Janita (Freddie) DeCourt of New Iberia, Jana (Joel) Ashworth of Carlyss; one grandson, Hayden Thomas Dennis; two nieces, Natalie DeCourt Guillory, Claire Ashworth and numerous family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bergeaux, Mark Daniel, Joel Ashworth, Freddie DeCourt, Jared Dennis and Mike Mire.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lillian Cormier Miller.
