John Murphy Leger

Funeral services for Mr. John Murphey Leger, Sr., 79, of Hayes, will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis House officiating.  Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mr. Leger will begin on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m.  It will resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until the 10:00 a.m. service.

Mr. Leger was born on November 2, 1943, in Welsh, LA to Zannie and Blanche Blanchard Leger.  He worked as a welder for the DOTD of Louisiana for 36 years.  Mr. Leger was devoted to and loved dearly his wife of 58 years.  They enjoyed each other immensely and their love was a shining light in the life of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life for 58 years, Loretta Prather Leger; daughter, Tara (Wesley Duhon) Leger; sons, Shannon (Curtis McMullen) Leger and Murphy (Ursula) Leger, Jr.; sisters, Mary Jane Semar, Carolyn Smith, Elaine Leger, Esther Smith; brothers, Freeman Leger, Jimmy Leger and Danny Leger; grandchildren, Jessica Landry, Ericka Guthrie, Ashley Leger, Amber Leger, Justin Leger, Gabe Leger, Darrell Leger, Cole Arceneaux, Landan Arceneaux, numerous great grandchildren and son-in-law, George Guthrie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Guthrie and two brothers, Isaac Leger and Doris Leger.
