John Martin Sandiferd

June 16, 1926 — December 14, 2015

JENNINGS

John Martin Sandiferd, 89, passed away December 14, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh, LA.

He was born June 16, 1926 in Jena, Louisiana, where he graduated from high school then served in the U.S. Army in Europe for two years during World War II. He later made his home in Elton, LA where he worked as a switcher in the oilfield. He retired in 1988. He loved spending time with friends and playing music with them. He played the guitar and harmonica. He especially loved playing his harmonicas for the church services at the nursing home during his last years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Elton.

He is survived by two sons, John Keith Sandiferd and his wife Vickie of Jennings, LA and Randy Martin Sandiferd of Topsy, LA, along with four granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Elsie Clark Sandiferd, his grandson John Colter Sandiferd, his parents, Roy and Leonia Sandiferd and his sister Bertha McDaniel.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel in Jennings. Rev. Pat Thomas will officiate.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.

Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Jena, LA under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

The family would like to thank Golden Age Nursing Home of Welsh for the excellent care given to Mr. Sandiferd.
