JENNINGS Surrounded by family, John H. Sandlin, passed away on Sunday, May 24, from complications related to an automobile accident. He was born in Bunkie, Louisiana, on June 13, 1947, and spent much of his early childhood in Lake Arthur. He later moved to the Hathaway community amidst family and friends. He was employed by Boyce Machinery for a number of years, after which he returned to his farm roots wearing many hats as a farmer, cattleman, and mechanic at Sandlin Farms and Tupper Farms in Elton. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Sandlin and Maggie SandlinTupper, and his step-father, Joseph Tupper, Sr. Surviving John are his sisters, Blanche Sandlin Mann (dec. He lived his life with authenticity and a genuine desire to help others, always looking for ways to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, whether friend or stranger. He had many talents. John could repair anything that was broken and had a passion for reengineering what wasn’t! He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and water sports. However, his greatest legacy is those he helped throughout his life. Regardless of his own circumstances, he always stayed true to helping others. According to the families’ wishes a private service was held in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at China Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to a local AA chapter or a “No Kill” animal shelter.
