John Guillory

Jennings Funeral services for Mr. John Giddy-Up Otis Guillory, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2008 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kristie Prejean officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be in the Pine Island Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation will be held today, Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Guillory died at 9: 50 a.m. at his residence on Friday, October 10, 2008. Mr. Guillory was a native and lifelong resident of Roanoke. He was a graduate of Roanoke High School, Class of 1956. He was a Marine veteran having served his country from 1956 to 1961. Mr. Guillory was a member of the Roanoke United Methodist Church and a retired truck driver for Conoco and Talens Marine and Fuel. He loved to play his guitar and cut grass. His pride and joy was his 1952 John Deere tractor. Mr. Guillory is survived by his wife; Shirley Mier Guillory of Roanoke; three daughters; Kathy Cormier and Connie Guillory of Roanoke and Jennifer Benoit of Jennings; three sons, Ernie Guillory, Louie Guillory and Terry Guillory, all of Roanoke; three sisters, Loretta Tarver of Lake Charles, Lorrain Fosson of Sweet Lake and Martha Jo Schexneider of Lake Charles; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Guillory was preceded in death by his parents, John Lertin and Marguerite Chloe Ferguson Guillory and a brother, Alvin Pogeler. Pallbearers will be Louie Guillory, Terry Guillory, Scotty Cormier, Reed Guillory, Justin Cormier, and Brent Guillory. Honorary pallbearer will be Connie Guillory.
