Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Joseph Savoie, 87, of Church Point, will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest Louisiana Veteran Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mr. Savoie will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time at 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Savoie was born on March 13, 1935, in Bristol, Louisiana to Raoul Savoie and Justine Leger Savoie. He served in the United States Army as a PFC E3 from May 9, 1957, to April 20, 1959. He lived most of his life by the base at Naval Air Station Corpus Christie until moving to the Church Point area in the late 1990’s with his daughter, Cher. After he was honorably discharged, he stayed on at the base as a pest control technician. He enjoyed all kinds of hunting and fishing and working outdoors on his farm in Church Point. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He always had a warm welcoming smile. He loved telling stories of the past days and had a laugh that was contagious to those around.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cher (Michael) Meyers of Church Point; step daughter, Blanche Welborn of Dallas, TX; step son, Ernest Welborn of the Philippines; a sister Genevieve Richard of Church Point; a brother, Paul Francis Savoie of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Sierra Marie, Jonathan, Dameion, Dylin, Trea, Josh and Jordan; and his great grandchild, Boston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Georgie Doucet; eight brothers, Rodney Savoie, Louis Savoy, Jean Savoy, Whitney Savoie, Levie Savoie, Anthony Savoie, Percy Savoie, and John Savoie.
