Jerry John Kratzer

JENNINGS A Mass of Christians burial will be held for Mr. Jerry John Kratzer, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be in the Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Kratzer died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Kratzer was a 43 year resident of Roanoke moving there from Jennings. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Sandblaster in the construction business. He was a 4th Degree Knight, a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Helen Bertrand Kratzer of Roanoke; one granddaughter he raised, Amber Kratzer Guillory and husband Martin, II of Sulphur; two sons, Mark Kratzer “PeeWee” and wife Tammy of Jennings, Michael Kratzer and wife Rhonda of Roanoke, one grandson he raised Jonathan “J.P” Kratzer and fiancé Dawn McGee of Lake Arthur; one sister, Gertrude Fruge of Evangeline; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Kratzer and Mavie Lulue; one daughter, Janet Lynn Kratzer; one sister, Betty Jean Gary; and two brothers, John and James “Little Billy” Kratzer.
