Jerry Fontenot

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Fontenot, 75, Evangeline, will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Tee Mamou at St. Jules Catholic Church with Rev. Paul LaFleur officiating. Burial will follow in St. Jules Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mr. Fontenot will begin on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings and will close at 8:00 p.m.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. It will resume on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. and close and 1:15 p.m. for the procession to church.

Mr. Fontenot passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024. He was born on February 1, 1949, to Shelby and Stella Roberie Fontenot in Lafayette, LA. He was a retired tool pusher in the oilfield, an industry that he worked in his entire adult life. He enjoyed cooking, playing pool, dancing and watching westerns. As a younger man he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Fontenot looked forward to his coffee club with the Southside Boys.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Carline Mire Fontenot; son, Todd Fontenot of Basile; daughters, Jeannie (Barry) Philliber of Lafayette and Stephanie Fontenot of Basile and; sisters, Bonnie (Kermit "Smokey") Boudreaux of Iota, Anna (Jim) Comeaux of Basile, Nora Delp of Jennings; four grandchildren, Barry Philliber, II, Jilli Philliber, Jaci (Orry) Patin, Brennen Fontenot; and two great grandchildren, Malani Thompson and Lyla Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda Bergeaux and Barbara Burton; and three brothers, Robert, Michael and Donald Fontenot.
