Jean Charlotte Ottis Gage, 96, went to rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord August 3, 2021.  She was born in Gulf, Texas January 28, 1925 born to the late George Peter Ottis, Sr. and Meda Mangum Ottis.

Mrs. Gage graduated from Bay City High school, in Bay City, Texas in 1943. In 1944 Jean married the love of her life O.G. “Jim” Gage, Jr. at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. From that day forward he was her whole world, and she was his whole world. For 70 years they had a loving, wonderful and exciting life together. They had four children. She loved her children and family. Jean had a “knack” for making a house a home. Her love for cooking and entertaining, whether it was for her friends or her children’s friends, made her home a happy one.  No one left her house hungry. Jean served her community, her church and the Lord. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She had a way of making you feel special.  We all have a special moment we hold close to our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband O. G. “Jim” Gage, Jr.; her sister- Katherine Rea Miliff; her brother, George Peter Ottis, Jr. and great granddaughter- Lily Avalon Harris.

She is survived by her children, O.G. ”Pete” Gage III (Kelley) of Birmingham, AL, Wm. T . “Terry” Gage(Kathleen) of Lake Arthur La, Carolyn Gage Pearson ( Joe) of Junction, Texas, Deborah Gage Blair (Bill) of Lafayette, LA; Sister, Lynda Kennedy (Jay) of Bay City, Texas. “Mimi” as Jean was known had a heart full of love for her 12 grandchildren: Brent, Shaw, Charlotte Gage, Billy, Becky Gage, Kevin, David, Tim Harris, Cloud, James, Caleb Vickery and Charley Blair. She has 36 great grandchildren and still growing. She was known as Aunt Jeanie to numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank five very special ladies who took very special care of her and who helped keep her wish alive to stay in her home surrounded by her birds, rabbits, her crepe myrtle tree and many memories until her passing- Mary Dupuis, Gloria Guidry, Faithe Trahan, Jessica Ardoin, and Bobbie Granger (her A ”angel” team). A very special thanks to HEART OF HOSPICE for their inspiring and compassionate care.

Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
