Mr. JB Winn, 91, of Basile, passed away on July 5, 2024.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2024, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Arthur, LA, beginning at 2:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday July 11, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. which will be time to depart for church.
Funeral services for JB will be held at First Baptist Church in Lake Arthur on Thursday July 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with his great grandson, Anthony Washington officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, in Lakeview Cemetery.
JB was born on August 8, 1932, in Branch, LA, to Huby Winn and Edna Leger Winn. He was a person that was so full of life and was so loving. For many years, he worked as a pipefitter for Zigler Shipyard. He often enjoyed being outdoors, mostly fishing or putting his woodworking skills to use. If you know JB, you know he loved his Purple Martins and was very protective of them. He will be deeply missed and may he rest in heavenly peace.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carol (James) Holford; stepsons, David Andrus and Raymond Andrus; sister, Hazel Vanslyke; brother, Richard (Annette) Winn and Donny Winn; grandchildren, Cruz Smith, David Andrus, Jr., Misty Savrio, Charlene Andrus Olivier, April Andrus Fontenot, Clinton Andrus, Jason Andrus, Kimberly Schexnider Guillory, Rufus Comeaux III, and Toni Andrus Duhon; nineteen great grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kirby LeBlanc Winn; a stepdaughter, Susan Schexnider; brothers, John and Nelson Winn; and a granddaughter, Patricia Andrus.
