Janet D. Miller

The family of Janet D. Miller, 65 of Evangeline announces her passing on October 3, 2023, at her residence in Evangeline surrounded by her loved ones.  

The Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Blaine Clement officiating in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel.  Inurnment is scheduled for a private service at a later date.

Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel.  

Ms. Miller was born on December 4, 1957, in Jennings to Napoleon Doga and Elverda Deshotel.   She was an Iota High School graduate and a lifelong resident of the Evangeline area.  She worked at the Rocket Drive In as a cook and was a bartender for many years before that. She enjoyed the outdoors, cleaning and raking her yard and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kiley Miller and wife Lily and a son, Eric Dean Miller, and wife Britney; two sisters, Carol Gotreaux and Lila Davis; one brother, Harvey Doga; 2 special nieces, Dee Miller and Robin Deshotel; godchild, Gwen Cooke; five grandchildren, Sean, Galina, Julianne, Natalee, Kenna and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Sue LePretre, and Pam Ardoin and 1 nephew, Brian Gotreaux.

The family has entrusted cremation to Miguez Funeral Home.
