JENNINGS Memorial services for Mr. James W. Precht, 85, of Jennings, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Jennings United Methodist Church with Revs. Michael Precht and Walter Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Miguez Funeral Home; and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the church. Mr. Precht died at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. Mr. Precht was a native of Jennings and a graduate of Jennings High School. After graduation, he joined the Coast Guard/Merchant Marines and served on a ship during and after World War II. He owned and operated a dairy farm for over 40 years. He served on the National Board of Dairymen, Inc., for several years and was State President for D.I. Mr. Precht was a lifetime member of the Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings. Mr. Precht is survived by his sister, Ola Mae Self of Jennings, his brother, Michael Precht of Allen, Texas, his son, David Precht and wife Linda, daughter, Susan Lanigan and husband Bill, and daughter Jill Boyce, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Precht provided a home for numerous foster children, including Dale Whitney of Basile, and Gail Whitney Silva of Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Joan Davis Precht, his brother, Dwight Precht, and his sisters, Frankie Parker and Mary Carter, all natives of Jennings, along with his parents, Frank Precht and Sally Hebert Precht of Jennings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jennings, LA.
