LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Isaac David Breedlove will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Entombment with Military Funeral Honors will be in the St. Anthony Mausoleum under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. David Breedlove was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, February 1, 1920. He was raised by his grandparents, Daniel and Willie Catherine Breedlove, near Birmingham. In 1937, when he was 17 years old, he enlisted in the Army and spent two years in Panama. In 1939, he was sent to Hawaii when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks, and was there during the attack at Pearl Harbor. Subsequently, he fought at Canton Island, Guadalcanal, Luzor Philippines, Vella Larella, among others. After the war, he made his home for 68 years in Lake Arthur. He worked for Superior Oil Company/Mobil for 39 years, before retiring. He was active in town government, serving as Park Commissioner and water commissioner. He was chairperson of LA Public Housing for 10 years and served as Justice of Peace for 30 years. He was Vice President of the Louisiana Chapter of Pearl Harbor Survivors for 10 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3012. In 2011 he was honored as KC Father of the Year. He worked the polls for years as commissioner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Martin Breedlove, grandparents, father, William Breedlove, and one sister, Myrtis Rizzo. He is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Breedlove of Lake Arthur and Kaye (Robert) Hackett of Lake Arthur; one sister, Alice Chapman of Lake Arthur, three grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rhett Hackett, Jared Still, David Clayton, George Chapman, David Chapman, and Paul Chapman. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
