Irene Johnson

Services for Mrs. Irene Ann Johnson, 84, of Gueydan, will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur with Father Rolland Vaughn officiating.  Burial will follow in Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Johnson will begin on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time at 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Jennings on January 11, 1938, to Austin and Agatha Duplantis Benoit.  She has lived in the Gueydan area her entire life.  She worked in the cafeteria at Goretti High School and OLI for over 30 years.  She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.

She loved cooking and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Everyone knew her as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Cynthia (Carson) Guin of Lake Arthur, Dana (Phillip) Vidrine of Gueydan, Rosslyn (Buddy) Adkins of Abita Springs; three sons, Allen (Cindy) Johnson of Wright, Byron (Patty) Johnson and Randy (Kim) Johnson, all of Lake Arthur; a sister, Mary (Doug) Sonnier of Gueydan; eighteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Johnson; her parents; two sisters, Louella Trahan and Beatrice Lipinski and a grandson, Captain Aaron Istre.

Carrying her to her final resting place will be Kelly Guin, Colby Adkins, Richard Johnson, Bryan Johnson and Brendan Johnson, Kyle Johnson.
