Irene was born on August 23, 1939, to John Coleman and Elizabeth Weekly, in Lyons Point, LA. She was a Military Wife and a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed taking care of her family and making many memories with them. She married the love of her life, George Dill, after meeting while working at Legers Café in Jennings. Growing up, English was Irenes second language, and she enjoyed meeting people all thru her life that spoke Cajun French. She also enjoyed gardening, growing her flowers and vegetables and loved sharing her crops with friends and family. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at the Crowley Christian Care Center. In her latter years she enjoyed spending all of her time with her faithful companion, Tookie, her four-pound Chihuahua who preceded her in death by three months. She had such a beautiful soul and had a smile that you could not forget. She is loved and will be missed.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 64 years, George E. Dill; daughters, Sonia Lemp of Montana, Bethany Christensen of Colorado and Patricia Downey of New Jersey; son, Douglas Dill of Michigan; sister, Leona Spell of Crowley; Eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and her devoted caregivers, Jennifer Klein and Teresa Huntsberry.
She now rejoices in heaven with her sisters, Mazel Hargrave, Maldes Touchet, Leezbird Myers, Kathleen Boudreaux, Sable Hollier, Melba Labbie and Shirley Fajkus; and brothers, Ralph (RA) Coleman and Steve Coleman.
The family would like to give a very heartfelt Thank You to Hope Hospice, especially nurse Kelli; and Devine Nursing Services for their exceptionally compassionate care that went above and beyond the families expectations.
The family request donations be made in her memory to the Crowley Animal Shelter in honor of Tookie.
