Iona Alberta Wilkinson

Yeah though I go thru the shadow of the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me. Mrs. Wilkinson departed this life to be with her Lord on July 27, 2009. She was a graduate of Jennings High School and Beaumont Academy of Beauty Culture. She worked as a beautician in Beaumont, was manager of a shop in Vinton, LA where she met and married Harold T. Wilkinson, her husband of 61 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, having served as organist and President of Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was a member of Entre Nous, Pink Ladies, the Sewing Club and a card group known as the Thirty One Gang. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents Albert and Julia Hetzel, her two sisters Alma H. Harris and Irma H. Phenice. She is survived by her four children, Jolane Edwards and husband Charlie of Baton Rouge, Cheryl Allen and husband Robert of Baton Rouge, Hal Wilkinson and wife Astrid of Jennings, and Dr. Ron Wilkinson of Dallas, TX. Also, seven grandchildren, Julie Barkas, Baton Rouge, Kim Miller, Scottsdale, AZ, Jackie Mathews, Lake Charles, Matthew Miller, Jennings, Shane Wilkinson, D.C., Leander, TX, Clay Wilkinson, Dallas, Texas, and Blake Wilkinson of Dallas, TX. She also had 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jennings. Mrs. Wilkinsons children would like to thank Mable Martin, Carol Landry, Margie Miller and Mary Rushing for their hours of care for our mother. Visitation will be at Miguez Funeral Home, Jennings Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jennings at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Koopman officiating. A private burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Chris Castille, Casey Miller, Clay Miller, Spencer Mathews, Matthew Barkas and Grant Barkas. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Mathews and Cole Wilkinson.
