Howard Peter Smith Sr.

Mr. Howard Peter Smith, Sr., 77, of Lake Arthur, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on February 2, 1947, in Gueydan, LA to Jules and Mary Smith.  He worked as an automotive mechanic.  Howard enjoyed boats and being on the water, especially if he was shrimping, and being around his family. He could fix just about anything he put his hands on, his kids always called him “MacGyver”. He was full of life and loved everyone in his little hometown of Lake Arthur, he called his “lil nook”.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Shawn (Chris) Glorioso, Christine Smith, Julia (Curtis) Lassabe, Victoria (Christian) Rentrop, Kelly (Joshua) Guidry; his sons, Howard (Lisa) Smith, Jr., and Denny (Elizabeth) Smith; Sister, Angeline Savoie; Numerous half siblings; seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and other brothers and sisters.

The family has entrusted Mr. Smith’s cremation to Miguez Funeral Home.
