Hershal Mae Abshire

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mrs. Hershal Mae Broussard Abshire, 71, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Funeral home visitation will begin Friday, December 26, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Hershal died Wednesday, December 24, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Hershal was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, Louisiana and was a 1962 graduate of Lake Arthur High. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was an amazing homemaker/domestic engineer. Her hobbies included reading and family genealogy. Hershal is survived by three sons, Allen Abshire of Houston, TX, Danny (Shawntae) Abshire and Bart (Rachel) Abshire; a daughter, Debbie (Brandy) Abshire, all of Lake Arthur; nine grandchildren, Adrienne Abshire Hanks, Amielle Abshire, Schuylor Foti, Allen Abshire, Jr., Alyssa Abshire LaPointe, Brandon Abshire, Justin Abshire, Tate Abshire, Lana Abshire; 12 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Maxie Paul Broussard of Lake Arthur and Burt Broussard of Kinder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin “Sonny” Abshire, Jr.; her daughter Veronica Lynn Dugas, and her parents Sostan Joseph Broussard and Louise Benoit Broussard.
