JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Edward Doucet, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Babasino Fernandes officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Funeral home visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., today, Thursday; and 8:00 a.m., Friday until time of services. A rosary led by the Crusillo Prayer Group will be recited at 6:30 p.m., today, Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Doucet died at 11:23 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Doucet was a resident of Jennings 37 years moving here from Kaplan. He was a graduate of the Jennings High School class of 1940, where he was tailback on the 1939 Jennings High School State championship football team. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force October 22, 1942 and honorably discharged January 13, 1946. Staff Sergeant Doucet served during World War II as an aircraft sheet metal worker. Mr. Doucet served in the Pacific Theatre of OperationsBismark Archipelago, New Guinea, Philippines and Air Offensive at Borneo. He retired as a rig superintendent with 36 years of service for Loffland Brothers. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #19. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audrey Maria Clement Doucet of Jennings; three daughters, Nina Broussard and husband Glenn of Hensley, Arkansas, Leila Ruggerio and husband Mike of Douglasville, Georgia, Avia Hatfield of Jennings; eight sons, Samuel Doucet and wife Rebecca, Robert Doucet and wife Barbara, Steven Doucet and wife Jennifer, Richard Doucet and wife Suzanne all of Jennings, Dennis Doucet of Dayton, Ohio, William Doucet and wife Susan of Lafayette, Daniel Doucet and wife Jeannie of Lafayette and David Doucet of Shreveport; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mr. Doucets eight sons. Altar servers will be Shelby Dronet, great granddaughter and Jarrett Doucet, grandson.
