 A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Helen Marie Bertrand Kratzer, 79, of Jennings, will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating.  Burial will follow in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Kratzer will begin on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. and will close at 9:00 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.  It will resume Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until time to leave for church. 

Mrs. Kratzer was born on June 16, 1943, in Bell City, LA, to Louis and Elodie Gary Bertrand.  She was a high school graduate.  She took her “job” as wife, and mother seriously and was great at it.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, eating, baking, and getting together with her family.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amber (Martin) Guillory, II of Sulphur; sons, Mark “PeeWee” (Tammy) Kratzer, of Jennings, Mike (Rhonda) Kratzer of Roanoke; and Jonathan “J.P.” (Dawn) Kratzer of Lake Arthur; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; a daughter, Janet Kratzer; two sisters, Barbara Bourgeois and Dorothy Malone; three brothers, Edward, Harry, and Harris Bertrand.
