Funeral services for Helen Fern Stagg Evans, 97, of Jennings will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 in the First Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

 

Visitation for Mrs. Evans will begin Sunday evening, May 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. and will continue until 8:00 p.m. Viewing will be at the church on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service

 

Mrs. Evans was born on August 22, 1920 in Jennings to Albert Lawrence and Phosa Walker Stagg. She was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a graduate of Jennings High School. She retired from Jennings High School after 23 years of service as the secretary. Mrs. Evans was a lifelong devoted member of First Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Clifton)Caldwell; son Robert Earl “Pug” (Beverly)Evans; a sister Ruth Conner; grandchildren, Kimberly Evans (Mike)Price of Baton Rouge; Robert Earl Evans, Jr. of Seattle, Washington; Karrie Caldwell (Greg) Gaspard of New Orleans and great grandchildren, Julia, William, Joseph and Michael Price.

 

Preceding Mrs. Evans in death were her parents; her husband, James Gordon Evans; sister, Louise Milner and two brothers, William “Bill” Stagg and Albert “Sonny” Stagg.

 

Mrs. Evans was very active until her death. The family would like to thank all of her neighbors and those who were so kind to her at church, the Fitness Center and Hathaway basketball games. She will be fondly remembered as someone who loved and devoted her life to her Savior, church and family.
