LACASSINE Funeral services for Mr. Harold Reid Hardy, Sr., 83, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at St. Johns Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum in Welsh under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today, Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., today, Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Hardy died at 1:20 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hardy was a lifelong resident of Welsh, a graduate of the Welsh High School class of 1946 and retired as owner of the Hardy Rice Drier Hardy Warehouse and Honda of Lake Charles. He loved his children, grandchildren and woodworking. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of St. John Evangelist Church. Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Witherwax Hardy of Welsh; two daughters, Karla Sue Smith and husband Tommy Lee of Lake Arthur, Ellen Cannon and husband Gary of Baton Rouge; one son, Jonathan David Hardy and wife Norma Jean of Lake Charles; one sister, Bonnie Ann Trahan of Welsh; 9 grandchildren, Harold Hardy III, Evan Reid Hardy, David Marcus Hardy, Ross Clayton Hardy, Erica Reed, Brock Smith, Brant Smith, Cody Cannon and Christy Morningstar; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aldise and Vernie Derouen Hardy; son, Harold Hardy, Jr., great granddaughter, Katie McKenzie Stites; grandson, Elliot Aldise Hardy; and brother, Robert Earl Hardy. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
