Guy W. Broussard, 71, of Grand Chenier, Louisiana passed away on May 28, 2024, following a long battle with a blood disorder. He was surrounded by family and friends in one of his favorite places at the time of his passing. Guy was raised in Lake Arthur, he attended McNeese University, and married Frankie Grovenburg in 1971. In that same year he joined the US Air Force where he served honorably attaining the rank of sergeant ending his career in 1974. Post military career he was an active member of his local VFW chapter. His next assignment was with the United States Postal Service. He held various positions throughout the organization until 1991 when he was sworn in as Postmaster in Erath, LA. He then moved on to be appointed as Postmaster of Cameron, LA. where he concluded his career in 2008. For the last decade he split his time between Louisiana and Blue Mountain Beach, FL. He is well known for his love of people, good food and easy going manner. Guy’s love for the outdoors motivated him to teach sons and grandsons to hunt, fish and appreciate all wildlife. He especially enjoyed ‘Dolphin Runs’ with his granddaughters at sunset to the mouth of the Mermentau River.
He is survived by his wife Frankie; their children Chris Broussard(Dana), Erin Etie (Kyle) and Leah Hayes (Trey); his father Harold Broussard and brother Randy; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Jobeth and brother Mark.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 11 am – 3pm at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 10am at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
