JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Curtis (Gloria McClelland) Welch, 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. Funeral home visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services. Mrs. Welch died at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family. Gloria Rae McClelland Welch was born on December 8, 1929 in Rayne, LA. She married Curtis Welch September 1, 1949 and they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She started her early career as a telephone operator for Southwest Bell and later joined her husband in their business Curtis Welch Tractor Company. Gloria was active in Entre Nous and the Methodist Women’s Club in her younger years. She enjoyed going to their camp in Lake Arthur at Morgan Shores. She also was a kindergarten teacher at Jeff Davis Academy. She was most active in her children and grandchildren’s lives going to basketball games, band trips, FFA Shows, and horse rodeo events. She is survived by her husband, Curtis Welch of Jennings; children, Diana Welch Nelson and her husband David Nelson, Douglas Welch and wife Rose Mary Welch, their grandchildren, Caitlin Nelson Ardoin, Alexandra Welch, Abigail Welch, and Maddison Welch and nephew John Jay McClelland. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Nora McClelland, sister Wilma McClelland and brother John McClelland. Pallbearers will be Douglas Welch, Bill Compton, Kent Brown, Robbie Sarver, William Ferguson and Sam Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Welch, Charles Carter and Buddy Sarver.
