The visitation for Mr. Rider will begin on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. and continue until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Glenn was welcomed into his heavenly home peacefully on the morning of June 12 after a short battle with lung cancer.  He was born on February 13, 1952, to Alfie and Marjorie Rider in Mamou, Louisiana.  In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses in rodeos.  He was a welder by trade, but, after a work accident, he became interested in raising cattle.  His proudest moments were spent watching his three children show his Beefmaster cattle.

He enjoyed watching rodeos, football, raising his chickens and guineas, gardening and attending livestock sales in Kinder.  He was also fluent in Cajun French and could be heard listening to Cajun music on any given day.

Glenn was a giving person and was known to stop whatever he was doing to help a family member or the elderly.  Glenn always said, “I’m trying to do my best with what I know”.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 45 years, Vanessa Taylor Rider, sons, Brandon (Rachael) and Steven (Gabrielle), daughter, Kimberly, granddaughters, Lauren, Lillian, Amelia, AnnMarie, and Rosie, brothers, Terry (Brenda) and Calvin (Lynn). Glenn loved children and was an honorary “Pawpaw” to many.  He was proceeded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Rider, Steven Rider, Jacob Richard, David Richard, Nick Brewer and Josh David.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Rider, Skip Smith and Tommy Huval.

The family would like to thank Jill Breaux, NP and LAMM hospice for their care in his final days.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vanessa Rider.
