Gilbert "Joe" Landry

JENNINGS

Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert “Joe” Landry, 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Rev. Susil Fernando officiating.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery Garden of Angels.

Funeral home visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Landry passed away at 11:04 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.

Mr. Landry was a lifelong resident of Jennings. He graduated from Lake Arthur High School, excelling in football and track.  He attended SLI (ULL) on a track scholarship.  He is in the Lake Arthur High School Hall of Fame. 

He married his beautiful wife Nora in May of 1961.  They were married 58 years, residing and raising their children in Jennings.

He worked at Bubba Oustalet, offshore for Shell Oil Company and owned Landry’s I-10 Exxon for 20 years.  He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus # 2012.  He loved to play golf with his friends, and he fished and hunted whenever he could.  He will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Landry Landry of Jennings; one daughter, Lisa (Susan Doyle) Landry of Lake Charles; three sons, Kenneth (Sonja) Landry of Jennings, Tony (Michelle) Landry of Tucson, Arizona; Carlton (Devaney) Landry of Katy, Texas; one sister, Fay (Joey) David of Scott; seven brothers, Edward (Merlene) Landry and Eli Landry, Jr. both of Jennings; Wilber “Bono” Landry and Johnny Landry both of Lake Arthur; Mike (Peggy) Landry of Tampa, Florida, Allen Landry of Oak Grove, LA, and TJ Landry of Kinder; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Landry is preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Alice McLean Landry, Sr.; and brothers, Curtis and Kenneth Landry.
