George Wesley Dirks

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. George Dirks 62, will be held at 10:00 a.m., today, Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Dr. David Savage officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Funeral home visitation was from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. today, Thursday, until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Dirks died at 3:40 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Dirks was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and was a retired store clerk. He was a member of the Shop Rite Coffee Club and Cursillo Group. Survivors include his mother, Maria Duhon Dirks, three sisters, Glory Suire and husband Lee of Lake Arthur, Loyce Kebodeaux and husband Wilfred of Jennings, and Mary Lou Ellenberger and husband Bradford of Ponchatoula; one brother, Woodrow Dirks and wife Sue of Jennings and special family friend, Mr. Robert Croker of Lake Arthur. Preceded in death by his father, Johnny Dirks; one brother, Fred Dirks; two sisters, Azelina Courville and Mary Jean Dirks; and special family friend, Mildred Croker.
