George "Butch" Edmondson

Jennings A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. George Butch Edmondson, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation on Friday, September 27, 2013 will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m with a Scripture Service by Rev. Charles McMillin at 6 p.m. and a rosary by the Knights of Columbus. Saturday visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Edmondson died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. He was a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived in Jennings his entire life. Mr. Edmondson was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus of which he was a previous Grand Knight and a member of the National Guard. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an insurance salesman. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Edmondson is survived by his wife, Shirley Babineaux Edmondson of Jennings, LA, three sons; Chad (Karen) Edmondson of Jennings, LA, Chris (Alicia) Edmondson of Lafayette, LA, Celsey Edmondson of Jennings, LA, two sisters; Judy (Johnnie) Adkison of Beggs, OK and Vickie (Jimmie) Jeremiah of Tulsa, OK a very special aunt, Jeanette Sheppard Reed and five grandchildren; Ryan, Virgina, Breayah, Chloe and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Edgar Dix and Mary Ellen Summer. In Lieu of Flowers the family request donations be made to the Jennings Quarterback Club, PO Box 1116, Jennings, LA 70546, in Mr. Edmondsons name.
