JENNINGS Funeral services for Gayle Smith Bordelon, 52, of Lake Arthur, will be at 10:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2009 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles McMillin will officiate. Burial will be in Andrus Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation at the funeral home in Jennings will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Visitation on Friday is at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM. Gayle died at 5:30 AM Wednesday in the Jennings American Legion hospital. Gayle was born in Jennings and lived all of her life in Lake Arthur. She attended St. Maria Goretti Elementary school and graduated from Lake Arthur High School. She was a certified design engineer technician and draftsman for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for twenty-nine years. Gayle was a faithful member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and an active supporter of Lake Arthur High School Athletics. She is survived by her husband Greg Bordelon, one son Steven Bordelon, and a daughter Leslie Bordelon all of Lake Arthur. She is also survived by two sisters, Elaine Smith of Jennings and Mary Beth Smith of Lake Charles; one brother, Dale Smith of Lafayette; her parents, Edward and Hortense Andrus Smith of Andrus Cove. Other survivors include her god-child Philip Clostio and her special sister-in-law and caregiver Kim Bordelon Chapman. Pallbearers will be Karl Petry, Mike Duplantis, Ed Saal, Dean Landry, Jeremy Clostio, and Cody Guidry. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Bordelon, Andy Chapman, Timmy Guinn, James Guinn, and Rick Berken. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Jennings American Legion Hospital for their care and compassion in Gayles last days. They would also like to thank her nephew, Andy Chapman, who opened his home in Houston for Gayle and her family.
