Ethel Louise, born in New Iberia to Quinta and Sidney Patout, married Leland Bowman in 1939 and lived in Orange, TX until 1952, when they moved to Jennings, LA. Central to Ethels life were her Lord, her church, her family and her community. During WWII she drove for the Red Cross Motor Corps. She served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church, Jennings, where she was active also in the Women of the Church/Presbyterian Women. She was proud of the Honorary Life Membership which the Jennings PW awarded her in 1998. She served on regional boards of WoC/PW as well ” often doing work for medical missions. Ethel enjoyed traveling with husband Leland as well as after his death: Africa, the Middle East, Europe, China, South America, Alaska In the 50s and 60s she worked with the Community Concert program in Jennings. She was faithful when health allowed, to both Entre Nous and Revelers. Ethel is remembered for always being there for children, grandchildren and friends. She served on the boards of Caring Hanks, Westminister Homes and the American Cancer Society. She so enjoyed the local celebrity cake baking auction and then the biscuit breakfasts, both of which benefited the ACS. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Leland and daughter, Claire. She is survived by children, Charie, Pepe, Sidney (Ila) and Brian (Ann); grandchildren Jeff (Jodie) and Michelle LeJeune; Jennifer Blake-Mahmud (Naved); and Kulia (Josh Blick), Christopher, Melanie, Bowman and great-grandchildren Caroline and Isabella LeJeune. Visitation: Sunday 4-6 p.m., Miguez Funeral Home; memorial service Monday 3 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, Jennings.
