Ernest Hundley Lambert

April 16, 1930 — May 7, 2012

Ernest “Ernie” Hundley Lambert died peacefully on May 7, 2012 following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on April 16, 1930 to Bess and Ernest Lambert, Sr., his family moved to Jennings, Louisiana where he found his true “hometown”. He developed many lifelong friendships and, as a quarterback for the Jennings Bulldogs, Ernie earned a scholarship to McNeese. He went on to graduate from LSU in the field of geology. He served his country as 1 st Lt. USAF in Germany during the cold war then returned to LSU where he received a Master’s Degree in Geology. Ernie’s career had many facets. He was a Geologist, Stock Broker, and following his strong entrepreneurial spirit, he owned an oil and gas exploration company. He was Chairman of the Board of a gold mining company, a hazardous waste disposal company and founded an oil and gas royalty company before becoming a consulting geologist. Ernie had a great passion for boating, flying his small plane, the study of religions, and playing tennis. His greatest joy was having a large blended family, their many reunions and the love they shared. Ernie was a man of great inner strength who led by example and with quiet dignity. His memory is cherished by his wife, Kay, children Louis Lambert (Alexa), Melissa Ferrari(Neil), Denise Adams (Jim), Renee St.Romain (Lyle), Tracy Newell (Mike), Steve Leggio (Kathy), Michele Griffey (Sy). Precious to Ernie were his grandchildren, Brad Lambert (Kim), Jay Lambert (Nicole), Ashley Alverado (Andrew), Neil Jr. Ferrari, Christopher Ferrari (Elizabeth), Lauren Adams, Elise Adams, Alicia St.Romain, Samantha Holman, Rachel Griffey and Matthew Griffey (Clara). He lived to greet three of his great grandchildren: Clair, Keith, and Parker. Ernie was blessed to have many very dear friends who greatly enriched his life. In lieu of flowers, should you wish, contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Smile Train, or the charity of your choice.
