LAKE ARTHUR
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Eric Scott Turner, 52, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.
Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday; and 8:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel followed by a Masonic Service.
On Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 12:15 a.m., suddenly and swiftly our beloved Eric Scott Turner was granted eternal rest. On November 25, 1963 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, his parents, Mary Turner Campbell and Henry Jones, Jr. were gifted with a beautiful baby boy, who was destined to bring laughter and joy to all those who were fortunate to meet him on the path of his life’s journey.
A native of Lake Arthur, Louisiana and a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Eric was a proud graduate of Lake Arthur High School Class of 1982. During his high school years he lettered in football, basketball and track and field.
As an adult, Eric was employed by the Jeff Davis School Board and was privileged to serve at his Alumni.
Eric Scott was united in holy matrimony to Remona Mitchell on December 25, 1987. They had one son, Virgil Turner. Eric Scott had one son, Farron and one daughter, Fallon.
Eric was well known and active in the community of Lake Arthur, serving as a Policeman on the Lake Arthur Police department; a coach for Pee Wee football, basketball, soccer and baseball and as a dedicated and committed employee of Market Basket Food Store. On January 1, 2015 be began serving on the Lake Arthur City Council, a position he cherished and honored.
He is survived by his wife, Remona Mitchell Turner; three children, Fallon Levi of College Station, Texas; Farron (Kim) Levi of Laredo, Texas and Virgil (Shanika) Turner of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, his mother, Mary Turner Campbell, of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; father, Henry Jones, Jr. of Mermentau, Louisiana; sisters, Audrian (Chuck) Turner Tyler, Karron Campbell Thompson, Sharron (Greg) Campbell Livington, all of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; Tanya Jones, of Seattle, Washinton, and Terranisha Jones of Mermentau, Louisiana; brother, Terrance Jones of Mermentau, Louisiana; aunt, Mercedes Sonnier Turner of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; uncle, Mickey Turner of Lafayette, Louisiana and two devoted and committed cousins, whom he considered as sisters, Kimberly Turner of Orange, Texasand Ronchella Turner-Hankerson of Miami, Florida; in-laws, Vergie and Murray Mitchell, Sr. of Gueydan, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Michelle Mosley of Houma, Louisiana; Stephanie Mitchell-Bernard of Lafayette, Louisiana; Tammy Richardson of Jennings, Louisiana and Tamara Prudhomme-Mitchell of Covington, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, John Dolan Bernard of Lafayette, Louisiana; James Richardson of Jennings, Louisiana and Murray Paul Mitchell, Jr. of Covington, Louisiana; uncle, Joseph Jones of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; godmother, Shirley Ramsey of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; godchildren, Kiarra Duncan and Shay Carter of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; Abigail Jones of Mermentau, Louisiana; Stephen Mosley and Stephanie Mosley, all of Houma, Louisiana; Ashli Benoit of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his stepmother, Eleanor Marie Jones; grandmother, Leola Turner; uncles, Wilmer “Varise” Turner and Wilmer “Tonky” Turner; aunts, Estrina Beverly and Audrey Washington, Katherine Turner, nephew, Seth Michael, cousin, Derrick James Turner and brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Freddie Lee Mosley.
Eric will be remembered as a person who generously shared himself. His love for people and his infectiously laughter and sense of humor will forever be in our hearts.
