Funeral services for Mrs. Wilfred (Elva Hanks) Fruge, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings with Pastor James Townley officiating.
Burial will be in the North Hanks Cemetery in Crowley.
Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday; and 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
Mrs. Fruge was a lifelong resident of Evangeline. She was a homemaker and a graduate of the Crowley High School class of 1954. She was a devoted Christian and wife, loved her family and enjoyed writing poetry.
Survivors include her husband, Wilfred Fruge, Sr. of Evangeline; three daughters, Kathleen Touchet and husband Charles of Winnsboro, LA, Carla Hancock of Evangeline, Jacqueline Fruge of Plantation, FL; one son, Wil Fruge, Jr. of Evangeline; two sisters, Margie Huddleston of Natchitoches, Shirley Abshire of Morse; one brother, Johnny Hanks and wife Jean of Crowley; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Theresa Benoit Hanks, Jr.; one son-in-law, Alan Hancock; one sister, Lula Belle Beard; and two brothers, Jimmy Hanks and Earl Hanks.
