Funeral services for Mrs. Elmeretta M. Alcock Loughlin will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, Nov 3rd at Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, officiated by Father Charles Mc Millin. Music provided under the direction of Sister Camille Martinez with guest musician Paul Connor. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday, Nov 2nd, from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary hosted by the Ladies Altar Society followed by a Memorial Service hosted by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 PM. Viewing will continue Monday at the funeral home from 8:00 to 9:30 AM Mrs. Loughlin died peacefully in her sleep, Monday, October 27, 2014 at 1:30 AM in Onalaska, Texas, where she lived with her son. Elmeretta was a native of Elton, Louisiana, born March 7, 1918, and a resident of Jennings most of her life. She was the daughter of Elmer V. Alcock Sr. and Mary E. Jones Alcock. She married at the age of 19, to Capt. Robert T. Loughlin and was whisked away to live briefly in Dallas, TX and Japan. Upon her husband’s retirement, she lived in San Antonio, TX. She returned to Jennings in 1963 after living in California for a brief time. Elmeretta worked at A&B Sheet Metal and was an active member of Post #3686 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She served many years on the Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters, were she was awarded and recognized for her years of service and dedication. In more recent years she also became a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, Andrew Carruthers Chapter honoring many of her patriot ancestors. Elmeretta was a strong and faithful woman. Family was always the most important to her and she had away of keeping everyone connected. She spent many hours sharing family history and tales, passing on recipes, sewing and cooking skills. Elmeretta had the gift of gab and loved to tell stories. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed sharing her Catholic faith with those around her. She was strong and direct in character, calm in nature and always loving with a sincere heart. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Capt. Robert T. Loughlin Sr., her sister, Evelyn V. Alcock Broussard, and her brothers, Walter “Nookum” Alcock and Elmer “Sonny” Alcock. She is survived by her sons and their wives, John & Connie Loughlin of San Antonio, TX, Robert & Cheryl Loughlin Jr. of Cibolo, TX and Patrick Loughlin of Onalaska, TX. Her sister in law, Mrs. Jean Alcock of Jennings, LA. Her grandchildren, Rachel Callen of Thiboadaux, LA, Melissa Williamson of Austin, TX, Major Mary Bayer of US Army, Melanie Berry of Jacksboro, TX, Melinda Best of Converse, TX, Michael Loughlin of San Antonio, TX, Charles Loughlin of Manor, TX, Patrick Loughlin of Lafayette, LA, Meghan Aguilar of College Station, TX, her Godson, Paul Connor, of San Antonio, TX. Fifteen great grandchildren: Sydnie, Kristian, Lourrin, Clara, Brady, John “Trey”, Clay, Michael, Brooke, Blaine, Thomas, Dustin, Abraham, Elias, Isaac with 2 more expected and Two great-great grandchildren Sofia and Damian. Pallbearers: Michael Loughlin, Charles Loughlin, Patrick Loughlin, Doyle Williamson, John Berry, Paul Best, Anthony J. Aguilar along with her three sons.
