JENNINGS. .Funeral services for Mr. Elmer J. Fontenot, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m, Sunday; and 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of services at 2:00. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Fontenot died at 11:20 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Jennings; served in the U.S. National Guard; was a retired commercial electrician; was a member of the Louisiana Cattlemans Association, National Cutting Horse Association; and he loved to fish and Hunt. Survivors include his wife, Johnny Rae Hart Fontenot; two daughters, Mindy Hetzel and husband Glen of Hathaway, Karen Worthington and husband Mike of Ville Platte; one son, Kevin Fontenot and wife Angie of Jennings; one brother, Mervin Fontenot and wife Lynn of Jennings; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clavis and Ezor LeBlanc Fontenot; one daughter, Faye Fontenot Martin; and one brother, Lloyd Fontenot. Pallbearers will be Clay Fontenot, Lake Martin, Matt Martin, Conner Fontenot, Kane Fontenot, Benjamin Hetzel, Will Hetzel, Glen Hetzel, and Mike Worthington. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Jennings American Legion Hospital Foundation.
