Elmer was a native of China, Louisiana, a small community near Elton, and a resident of Jennings for most of his life. He was the son the late Elmer V. Alcock Sr. and Mary Jones Alcock, and was known as Sonny to all. He was a man that served people and was dedicated to being a faithful servant and witness for Jesus Christ. Sonny touched many lives in Jennings area. He was a retired License Control Officer for Louisiana Department of Public Safety, an active member of the First Baptist Church, and served as Boy Scout Leader, Troop 67, for numerous years. More recently he served as a volunteer at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Sonny was recognized as their first male volunteer and for his years of dedication and service. Sonny loved people and people loved Sonny. He was the one roaming the halls of the hospital spreading joy and smiles to all that would look his way. Offering to give directions and comfort to patient family members and love and compassion to those suffering. Sonny also had a passion for Bluegrass music and would travel to be with his many Bluegrass friends, they brought him great joy. Preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Alcock Broussard, his sister and Walter Alcock, his brother. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 62 year, Etta Jean Wells Alcock, Elmeretta Alcock Loughlin (sister), Catherine Olive Alcock (sister in law), all of Jennings.
