Ann, born August 1, 1965, to Alva Joseph and Alma Vaughn Barrilleaux of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, passed peacefully after an unexpected brief battle with cancer and entered into eternal rest on Thursday December 19, 2024.
She was an educator, an adventurer, a scholar, and a lover of life. She obtained many degrees and worked passionately with the disabled in a career as an Adapted Physical Educator. At an early age Ann easily made many life-long friends and continued those lasting friendships after graduating from Saint Maria Goretti High School. Ann loved adventure and travelling. After graduation she moved to California and found her home away from home in La Honda, California where she resided until her death. Ann was enthusiastic about photography, loved animals, and anything to do with nature. She often spoke about her adventures and encouraged others to do the same.
Ann is survived by her brother Chris Barrilleaux of Melbourne, FL, her sister Joy (Travis) Kershaw of Jennings, LA, her two nieces Lindsay Clement of Lafayette, LA, Lauryn Clement of Hathaway, LA, stepmother Gwendolyn Broussard (Alva) Barrilleaux of Lake Arthur, LA, Cousins: Tiny (Glen) Knox of Jennings, LA, Toni (David) Godwin of Jennings, LA, Gene (Janet) Theriot of Lake Arthur, LA and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Alma Vaughn Barrilleaux, her father Alva Joseph Barrilleaux, Paternal Grandparents Emile and Beulha Barrilleaux, Maternal Grandparents: Great Uncle and Aunt, Sidney and Isabella Theriot; paternal aunts, Eldora (David) Trahan and Edora (Elbert) Johnson; and Maternal Aunts Betty and Jane Vaughn.
As this news was sudden, Ann was supported and cared for by her Californian extended family and friends until her passing.
For those interested in honoring the memory of Ann, the family asks to donate to the local animal shelter or animal rescue program of your choice.
